朱棣之所以违背老爹的命令重用太monitor his own difficulties in inheriting the throne. He had many eunuchs who helped him during his rise to power, such as Zheng He and some insiders in the capital. These people were dedicated to serving their emperor with a spirit of "die for one's duty" and provided strategic advice. After they achieved their goals, naturally Emperor Zhu Di wouldn't betray them; they would be given shares instead.
The reason why eunuchs could gain favor with emperors was that they were useful and represented the interests of the emperor. Why did we say they were useful? Compared to traditional scholars, eunuchs had lower qualifications and fewer Confucian teachings. Their purpose was simply to complete tasks assigned by the emperor, regardless of what means were used. Moreover, since these individuals didn't have descendants or family ties, no one dared criticize them; as long as the emperor was happy.
These points indicate that while eunuchs did commit many wrongdoings throughout history, they also accomplished much good work due to their efficiency in serving imperial power without being influenced by local interests like scholars often are.
For instance, when it came to collecting taxes from distant regions where corruption might occur frequently enough for officials not even half of which would be spent on construction sites), let alone take care of other matters at hand). Officials couldn't handle this situation properly because it involved many parties' interests; however, eunuchs could manage such issues more effectively because they only represented the emperor's will - who dared defy this?
This is another reason why successive emperors favored using eunuchs: efficiency! For example when it came time to collect taxes from far-off places where problems might arise (taxes uncollected or lands/animals unreturned), if left up to regular officials things would drag on forever while requiring bribes here there everywhere... But send an EUNUCH? Instant results! They'd either kill someone high-ranking (kill-one-appoint-another) or replace them altogether! No land-no tax-no cow-you're lucky you've got a maid!
In summary then too do both courtiers and EUNUCS serve imperial authority but why does everyone hate those poor EUNUCS so much?! The answer lies in how history books are written - mainly by scholars themselves! In life you can't defeat us but try your best now-you'll get away with nothing once you're dead anyway-but wait till I'm gone then watch me rip apart all your reputations!! In reality though aren't officials better off than EUNUCS?
