The Great Wall of China, a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, and wood, was built to protect the borders of China from invasions by nomadic tribes. It was constructed during the Ming Dynasty under the rule of Zhu Di (also known as Emperor Chengzu), who ordered its construction to strengthen his empire's defenses.
The Fall Of Ming Dynasty
The decline and fall of the Ming dynasty began in the 17th century when peasant uprisings led by Li Zicheng and Zhang Xianzhong ravaged much of central and southern China. These rebellions weakened the government so much that it could not effectively resist foreign invasion.
In 1644, after Manchu forces captured Beijing and killed Chongzhen Emperor, who was then on throne at age 20 without any clear successor or heir apparent. In desperation for help against invading Mongols in Liaodong Province which had been terrorized by Nurhaci since 1621 - a Mongol warlord later became founder (in 1616) - Zhu Youjiao sent an urgent letter to Dorgon asking for assistance while he himself fled northward into Shanxi province where he died shortly afterward; this is considered one end point marking beginning end times for Ming dynasty.
