然而，关于Song High King himself, he wasn't born with the inability to procreate. Before becoming the emperor of South Song Dynasty, he had children - five daughters and one son named Zhao Wei. Although his only biological son was briefly enthroned as an emperor after Zhao Wei's death, this episode lasted only 20 days before being dismissed. The brief reign of Zhao Wei ended in a tragic accident that shocked him to death, leaving Song High King heartbroken but helpless.
It seemed as though fate had destined Song High King without an heir. His five daughters also met untimely ends for various reasons. Thus, it wasn't a lack of reproductive ability on his part but rather the loss of all his previous offspring that made him feel desperate about securing the future of South Song Dynasty.
In response to this crisis, he adopted two sons from within his royal lineage - one named Zhao Zhen who inherited much of his power and influence. Though critical towards how Song High King handled the situation involving Yue Fei (the great general), Zhao Zhen couldn't bring himself to reverse Yue Fei's unjust treatment due to both affection for Song High King and the fact that he voluntarily abdicated in favor of Zhao Zhen.
So under the banner of Song High King's authority, Zhao Zhen worked towards rectifying Yue Fei's name and reputation - effectively covering up a significant stain on their dynasty's history.
